Samuel Jefferson “Sam” Withers, age 83 of Gallatin, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021.
Cryptside Service will be Thursday, December 23rd at 3:00 p.m. at Sumner Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, with Elder Joe Porter officiating and family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 22nd from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, December 23rd from 1:00 p.m. until time to leave for the cemetery.
Mr. Withers was born June 8, 1938 in Gallatin to the late Rufus Withers and Elizabeth Gorham Withers.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Georgia E. Burns Withers; brothers, Jake Withers and Robert Withers; and sisters, Ruth Withers, Allene Wade, Margaret Jones, and Florencie Fuqua.
He is survived by son, Jeff Withers (Gina) of Gallatin; brothers, Earl Withers of Portland, Dee Withers (Sue) of Hendersonville, and Benny Withers (Diane) of Castalian Springs; sisters, Marilyn Gregory of Gallatin, Betty Fuqua of Gallatin, Jenny Fuqua of Cottontown, Nell Bruce (Russell) of Gallatin, Irene Moss of Gallatin, Florene Gregory of Gallatin, and Barbara Hobdy of Portland; and 3 grandchildren, Mandy Withers, Kirk Withers, and Kyle Withers.
Mr. Withers was a member of Eastside Missionary Baptist Church.
