Melissa-Albright-Moon

Melissa Albright Moon was born on April 11, 1945 in Knoxville, Tennessee and passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert Moon, parents Steve and Polly Albright, and nephew Scott Hudson.

She is survived by sister Priscilla Albright, son Robby Moon (Teran) and grandchildren Lily and Jordan Moon, as well as daughter Wendy Chapman (Whit) and grandchildren Caroline, Harrison, Anna Belle, and Jonathan Chapman.

Missy graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and received her Master’s Degree in Child Development. Before marriage, she taught Head Start on the Cherokee Reservation in North Carolina and enjoyed pairs ice skating.

Missy loved her church family at First Baptist Church, Hendersonville, where she was a faithful member for over 45 years. Missy taught youth Sunday School while her own children were young, and she led Ladies’ Bible studies for decades afterward, devoting hours to the careful preparation of her lessons. Missy sang in the church choir, assisted weekly in the Prayer Room, and served in the Welcome Center, greeting visitors with her bright smile each Sunday morning. Many of Missy’s friends remember her participation in the church’s “Dinner Theater” musicals, where her comedic roles and commitment to character would entertain the crowd each year.

Missy loved her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She knew how to make her family members feel cherished, whether she was mailing them cards, selecting the perfect gift, making them an heirloom Christmas stocking, or faithfully praying for them. She was a living example to her children and grandchildren of what faithful married love looks like, as she sacrificially devoted herself as caretaker of Bob in the later years of his life.

Missy enjoyed life and found fun wherever she was. She was artistic and enjoyed painting, quilting, and scrapbooking. She filled her home with her beautiful watercolors, framed photographs, and happy memories. Missy and Bob enjoyed traveling after his retirement and accompanied the tour group from church to various destinations such as the Holy Land and the British Isles. She taught aerobics at church, enjoyed movies and funny TV shows, loved a good joke, and relished the beauty around her, from the Tennessee mountains to a beautiful sunset in her neighborhood.

Her commitment to her family, her friends, her church, and her Savior have blessed those who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 12:00 p.m.– 3:00 p.m., with the memorial service beginning at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville. In keeping with Missy’s personality, the family encourages friends to wear bright colors to the service. https://www.hendersonvillefh.com
