A 29-year-old Clarksville woman has been identified as the driver killed Thursday morning in a chain-reaction crash involving three semi-trucks on Interstate 24 West near Old Hickory Boulevard.
Madeline Mitchell was driving one of the semis when the crash happened around 10 a.m. Traffic on I-24 West had already slowed because of an earlier crash involving a rolled-over semi.
According to the preliminary investigation, Mitchell did not slow down and crashed into the back of another semi, which was then pushed into a third tractor-trailer.
Mitchell died at the scene. The driver of the third truck suffered minor injuries.
Investigators said there were no signs of impairment among any of the three drivers.

The crash initially shut down I-24 West between Old Hickory Boulevard and Whites Creek Pike, with the closure lasting several hours Thursday.
