Ashland City Man Killed, Woman Arrested After Pursuit in Kansas

An Ashland City man was killed and a Kansas officer was critically injured after a pursuit on Sunday morning, according to WKRN.

The incident began in Kansas around 7:30 a.m. Sunday  after Lenexa police officers responded a stolen car near Interstate 35 and 95th Street. Police say once the stolen car was located, the suspect hit the police car with the stolen car and drove away.

Police chased the suspect north on I-35 until the driver came to a stop near I-35 and Lamar Avenue in Mission, WKRN reports.

Lenexa Police Department says two suspects crashed the car and ran into a nearby QuikTrip. When officers from multiple agencies attempted to arrest the suspects, police say shots were fired as officers attempted to make contact with to two suspects.

One suspect, later identified as 40-year-old Shannon Wayne Marshall of Ashland City, Tennessee was struck as shots were exchanged. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second suspect, 32-year-old Andrea Rene Cothran of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, was taken into custody.

A Fairway Police Officer was shot and taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Cothran was booked into the Johnson County Adult Detention Center.
