TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center is pleased to announce its cardiovascular services program performed the first electrophysiology (EP) ablation in Sumner County, a procedure that treats complex heart rhythm disorders.

Dr. Peter Borek, clinical cardiac electrophysiologist, performed the complex cardiac procedure on August 20. The procedure examines and maps the electrical system within the heart to see what is going on inside the heart in greater detail.

If a patient is suffering from cardiac arrhythmia, an EP study can be performed to determine the location of the electrical “misfire” within the heart. The misfire can then be corrected by targeting the specific area of the heart and performing an ablation. TriStar Hendersonville performs right-sided ablations.

“We are excited to share another first for complex cardiac services offered north of Nashville,” said Justin Coury, chief executive officer. “Our expanded EP services reflect our dedication to providing patients with the latest technology and expert care for the best possible outcomes.”
