OBITUARY: Billie Franklin Evans

Billie Franklin Evans, age 95, of Cross Plains, passed away on April 21st, 2025 at his residence in Cross Plains. Mr. Evans was born on June 29th, 1929 in Coopertown, TN to the late Roy Evans & Mattie Dickerson-Evans.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary Elizabeth Redferin Evans; sons, Billy Davis & Bobbie Dean (Bean) Evans; great granddaughter, Kimberly Evans; sisters, Patricia Wilson, Doris Mentlo, & Martha Bell Evans; brothers, Alec Evans, Carl Evans, & Roy Evan Jr.

Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Nelia Ann Evans; daughter, Judy (Jim) Hale; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Evans; grandchildren, Kelly Davis Evans, Kevin Evans, Keasha Evans, Treva Civils, Jennifer Civils, & Brian Cantrell; sister, Peggy Poole; several great grandchildren; special family & friends, Cleveland Jackson & BJ Brooksher; stepchildren, Lorri Ann Talbolt, Carol Faye Bennett, and Jim McCormack.

Billie loved to hunt, fish, care for his cattle and farming on his farm that has been a part of the community since 1948. He opened Billie’s Used Cars & Repair in 1966, where he loved working at. Billie always worked hard to provide for his family and was a service to his community. He was well respected for his hard work, service, and honesty. He helped many people over his lifetime and was well thought of and loved by many.

Funeral service for Mr. Evans will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 24th, 2025 at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Caroll officiating.

Visitation for Mr. Evans will be on Thursday, April 24th, 2025 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm (service time) at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Brian Cantrell, Kevin Evans, Kelly Davis, Clay Frey, Colin Frey, & Jim McCormack will serve as pallbearers.
