Carrol “Pete” Scruggs passed away April 22, 2025 at age 77. The Funeral Service conducted by Elder Jeff Blackwell and Steve Law will be held Friday April 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 2-9 p.m. on Thursday and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at 2. Burial will follow in Hartsville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers: Wayne Blair, Karl Baker, Tony Crook, Billy Claridy, Dawson Brawner, Dylan Gross and Jared Draper.
Carrol was born into the Cato community to Carolene Dickerson and Derise Scruggs. He was a member of Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Barbara “Bobbie Sue” Scruggs, son Joshua Lee “Josh” (Jada) Scruggs, two grandsons Noah Kale and Jayden Lee Scruggs, sister-in-law Linda Gammons, special niece Glenda (Chris) Gross, great nieces Emily (Dawson) Brawner, Abby Oyster and Dillon (Kenzie) Gross.
He is preceded in death by his parents Carolene and Derise Scruggs.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice Staff and Highpoint Health Sumner Critical Care Staff.
