2Exhibit: Culture, Color & Children – Michael McBride

The MACC celebrates Black History with the illustrations of the noted Tennessee artist Michael J. McBride. His exhibition features more than 60 of his illustrations for children’s books. Works in this collection celebrate the Gullah-Geechee language and culture of the Carolinas, and they also pay tribute to the great African-American artist Helen LaFrance. McBride is a master of figurative art. His virtuosity in painting people comes through in his sensitive renderings of a child and his grandmother.

Bringing Charles Dickens’ beloved novel to life, Lionel Bart’s Oliver! takes audiences on a wild adventure through Victorian England. Join young, orphaned Oliver Twist as he navigates London’s underworld of theft and violence, searching for a home, a family, and – most importantly – for love.

This theatrical masterpiece has captivated both actors and audiences alike. HPAC is delighted to showcase this classic, stirring Charles Dickens tale. The musical boasts unforgettable Broadway tunes such as “Food, Glorious Food,” “Where Is Love?” “Consider Yourself” and others. It brings to life iconic characters like the Artful Dodger, Fagin, Bill Sykes, and Oliver.

The show is rated “PG” by the publisher, MTI. Parents should be aware that this show contains dark themes including child abuse, child trafficking, underage drinking, prostitution, and includes onstage domestic violence.

Check out this Stained-Glass afternoon learning the Tiffany Style method. You’ll get the option to create a beautiful Stained Glass Butterfly or a Cross! There will be variations on each and perhaps a couple of other choices, all while teaching you how to copper foil, solder, wire work and use a patina for the finish.

Painting With a Twist is a BYOB studio. Feel free to bring anything you would like to eat or drink.

Raihanna Estrada is a country artist living in Lebanon, Tennessee. Raihanna has a unique voice that is vulnerable, powerful and undeniably country. With catchy, feel good melodies, acoustic guitar driven instrumentation, and heartfelt crafted stories in her songs, Estrada continues to be a rising country artist to watch from Nashville and abroad. February 2023 during Tennessee Songwriters Week, her song “Photographs” made her a first place winner right here at the Temple Theatre and took her to the semi-final round. She has played at venues such as The Listening Room at “Song Suffragettes,” Musicians Corner, and “Rock the Block” in downtown Lebanon. She has played overseas at Buckle & Boots Country Festival in England, in August 2023 she performed in Norway at Trandel Country Festival, and in Spain at Salardu Country Rock Festival. She loves to tell stories through music and through visuals like her music video “Cinderella” that premiered on CMT.
