Sports Recap- Sounds Back in the Win Column

Nashville Sounds: Win 9-4

         The Nashville Sounds got back in the win column last night. They beat the Indians in convincing fashion after they had a second inning that saw 9 Sounds batters come to the plate. They scored 5 of them to take a 6-0 lead early in the game. Then later in the game Westbrook and Lopes hit back-to-back home runs to extend the lead to 9-0. The Indians scored late in the game, but it was not enough to mount the comeback and the Sounds won 9-4. Lindblom pitched 4 scoreless innings and Keston Hiura has a 7-game hitting streak.

 

Atlanta Braves: Loss 2-1

          The Atlanta Braves dropped a heartbreaker to the Phillies last night. It was a defense and pitching matchup as neither team had a run through 5 innings. Then in the 6th, the Braves scored first on an RBI single from Contreras. The next runs in the game came in the bottom of the ninth as Luke Williams hit a 2-run home run to win it in the last half-inning of the game. It was Williams’ first career home run. Will Smith was on the mound and given the loss.

 

Cincinnati Reds: Win 7-3

          The Cincinnati Reds came away last night with a victory over the Brewers. Vladimir Gutierrez earned his second win of the season as he pitched 7 innings, gave up 2 runs, and struck out 7 batters. Offensively, the Reds’ bats came alive without the long ball. Tyler Stephenson walked away from last night going 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs.

 

Tennessee Titans:

         Julio Jones has passed his physical and the trade has officially been approved. Julio Jones is a Tennessee Titan. One of the first orders of business was Jones’ selected his new jersey number. He chose number 2.
