Robert “Bobby” Russell Butler, age 93, of Castalian Springs, TN, entered into rest on Sunday, February 25, 2024.
He was born on September 22, 1930, to his parents Frank and Laura Butler, in Jackson County, TN.
As a young man, he was a marine in the United States Marine Corps. He served during the Korean conflict. Following his military service, he was a cattleman and did agricultural work. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Robert will be remembered as a stellar man with many friends and for how he loved the Lord.
Robert Russell Butler Sr. is survived by his loving wife Patsy Butler; daughters, Kathleen Patricia Ruffing (David Ruffing) of Lexington, Ky, Wanda Gwyne Choate (Bill Choate) of Springfield, TN, Jody Diane Butler of Gallatin, TN; daughter-in-law, Cathy Butler of Bethpage, TN; grandchildren, Christopher R. Choate of Nashville, TN, Cody S. Choate (Caitlin Choate) of Springfield, TN, Porter Curtis lll of Hendersonville, TN, Steven Curtis of Gallatin, TN, Amanda K. Butler of Bethpage, TN; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Choate of Springfield, TN, Allie Choate of Springfield, TN, Jason Curtis of Gallatin, TN, Cheyenne Curtis of Gallatin, TN, Thomas Porter Curtis V “TC” of Hendersonville, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carlos Frank Butler; mother, Laura (Russell) Butler; son, Robert Russell Butler Jr.; brothers, Billy Ray Butler, James Rudolph Butler, Charles Fredrick Butler, Harold Corman Butler; sister, Bonnie Marie Woodard; and his first wife and mother of his children, Mary Gessner.
Visitation with the Butler family will take place on Wednesday, February 28, from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., and again on Thursday, February 29, from 11:00 A.M., until 1:00 P.M. The funeral service of Mr. Robert Butler will be conducted from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home, on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 1:00 P.M., officiated by Elder Michael Nesbitt. Interment will immediately follow funeral services at Willow Grove Cemetery, (Trousdale County) located off Honeysuckle Lane Road, Hartsville, TN.
Those serving as pallbearers are Cody Choate, Porter Curtis, Steven Curtis, David Ruffing, Billy Choate, Amanda Butler, Stanley Dickens, and Tommy Butler.
