Houston Haynes Mason, a former fleet manager and cherished member of his community, passed away on August 22, 2023, in his hometown of Gallatin, Tennessee.

He was born on October 3, 1943, to Abram and Katherine Mason, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Houston’s story began in Gallatin, where he attended Gallatin High School. He graduated with the Class of 1961, earning a reputation as a dedicated student Following his high school years, Houston pursued higher education at Western Kentucky University and graduated in1967

With determination and continuous growth in mind, Houston then pursued an MBA from the University of Tennessee in 1979.

Houston found professional success as a fleet manager for BellSouth, dedicating an impressive 27 years of service to the company between 1977 and 2024.

He met his wife, Kening, in London, England, and they got married on September 18, 2006.

Beyond his thriving career, Houston was known for being a kind-hearted individual with a love for all things country. Born with a keen intellect and resourceful nature, he was often regarded as a “Good Ole country boy” who possessed the ability to fix anything that came across his path. Friends would seek out Houston’s help knowing they would be met with both knowledge and laughter.

Houston loved iris flowers, fixing cars, and HAM Radio.

Though Houston is no longer physically present among us, his spirit lives on through fond memories and the impact he made in the lives of countless individuals.

Houston’s loss leaves a void in the hearts of his family members, friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to have known him. His remarkable work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and ability to bring laughter into any room will be deeply missed.

Houston Haynes Mason is survived by his devoted wife Kening (Liu) Mason and their daughter Mei Williams (Ted Williams).

He was preceded in death by his father, Abram Mason; mother, Katherine (Brown) Mason; and sisters, Suzanne (Mason) Glasgow, and Betty Lee (Mason) Crook.
