Cliter-Mai-Agee

Cliter Mai Bryant Agee, 89, passed from her earthly home peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 9, 2022.

Born February 4, 1933 in Bloomington Springs, she was the daughter of the late Emmit and Tottie Goolsby Bryant.

In 1958 she married the love of her life J. D. Agee, and they celebrated 60 years of marriage prior to his death in 2018.

Mrs. Agee was the most caring person you could meet and had a deep love for her family. She was a passionate, strong woman that was dedicated to many. She served as a member of First Baptist Church Portland for over 50 years and never let an opportunity pass to share her faith with the world.

Though she enjoyed many things, caring for others was her true life’s work. She rocked and soothed countless babies and children, sent numerous cards, lovingly sewed for family and friends, shared food from her beautiful garden, and made a multitude of handmade gifts that she gave selflessly to anyone in need. If anyone was having a bad day, it wasn’t anything one of her infamous chocolate pies couldn’t fix.

Mrs. Agee is survived by the women she raised, daughters Betsy Cooksey (Rick), Cindy McCreary (Danny), and granddaughter Kim Brown (Tony). She was blessed with grandchildren Laura Beth Menser (J. D.), Chelsea Villalba (Rodrigo), and Craig McCreary (Miranda); great-grandchildren Courtney Ford (Brian), Ryan Hunter (Kimi), Audrey Kate and Lillian Grace Menser, Xavier, Aria, and Arora McCreary, and Eliza and Luciana Villalba; great-great-grandchildren Caden Ford, and Brooklyn and Lillian Maclynn Hunter; and special grands Brian Ford III, Callie Brown, Alex Holder, and Cassondra (Travis), Brady, Austin, and Logan Ragan. All adored her. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Youngblood, brother Donald (Doris) Bryant, a nephew, and several nieces.

Along with her parents and husband, Mrs. Agee was preceded in death by a daughter, Maclynn Harris, a grandson, Bryant Harris; sisters Elsie Modene Grosse and Freda Eatwell, and brother Olen Bryant.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, April 13th at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Portland. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. The family has requested that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to First Baptist Church Portland.

Mrs. Agee will especially be remembered for her beautiful soul and fiery spirit that touched every person she met. To honor her love of the color red, feel free to wear red as we celebrate her life.
