Barbara Sue Caudill Ray, 85, of Gallatin, TN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 7th at Westmoreland Care and Rehabilitation Center. Sue was born February 4th, 1941, to the late Marguerite Carter Caudill and William Dye Caudill.
Along with her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her brother, William “Bill” Dye Caudill, Jr., nephews William Patton Caudill and Charles Tyler Caudill, and uncle, George Caudill.
Sue is survived by her husband, Ronnie Dale Ray; sisters-in-law, Charlotte (Bill) Suttle Caudill and Emma Jean (Jackie) Ray Wright; brothers-in-law, Danny Ray and Terry (Susie) Ray; along with several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Sue was proudly a 1958 graduate of Sumner County High School. She went on to have a career in banking until retirement, following her brother’s lead. Sue was also a lifelong sports enthusiast, with a special love for Vanderbilt athletics and the Portland Panthers. She rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her family and could always be found supporting them at their games, performances, and events. One of her favorite family pastimes was playing card games with the nieces and nephews, during which she taught many of them how to play. Sue will be remembered for her kindness and generosity for those in need and always had a tin of “Aunt Sue Mix” ready to share. Sue was a dedicated member of Hartsville Pike church of Christ and never missed an opportunity to serve.
Visitation for Sue will be at Wilkinson and Wiseman Funeral Home on Friday, July 10th from 11:00am to 1:00pm, with a graveside service to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. Alex Meadows will be officiating the service.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Monday, friend; Terry Ray, brother-in-law; and great-nephews: Alex Meadows, Max Meadows, Cooper Meadows, Will Caudill.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Charlie Caudill, uncle; Bobby Hester, friend; Clyde Graves, friend; and Mike Broyles, friend.
