Highpoint Health with Ascension Saint Thomas has received approval to move forward with a $59.3 million expansion at its Sumner Station campus in Gallatin.
The project will add several new healthcare services aimed at expanding care in Sumner County, including inpatient care, advanced cardiac services, surgery, and a pediatric unit.
Hospital officials said the expansion is designed to bring more care options closer to home for patients in one of Middle Tennessee’s fastest-growing areas.
The new additions will include an eight-bed inpatient pediatric unit, 16 inpatient medical and telemetry beds, a four-bed intensive care unit, a cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology lab, two operating rooms, an endoscopy suite, and expanded pharmacy, lab, dietary, supply chain, and environmental services.
Leaders with Highpoint Health said the project will help reduce the need for patients to travel outside the area for treatment and improve access to emergency and specialty care as the region continues to grow.
Construction planning is now underway, and the project is also expected to create new jobs and expand healthcare capacity in the region.
