The Gallatin Police Department earned an important re-accreditation on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

The announcement was made at the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) annual summit in Bellevue, Washington that the department had once again met CALEA accreditation standards.

The CALEA certification status represents a significant professional achievement and is confirmation that GPD practices are consistent with progressive professional standards.

CALEA assessors spent several days evaluating the Department during 2023. They examined all aspects of the department’s policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services. Verification by the team is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation, a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence.

This is an excellent opportunity for the department to show the community that they are committed to providing a quality service by ensuring policies and procedures are current and effective.

The CALEA accreditation award is for four years and the department is required to maintain continuous compliance during the award period.
