The most recent class of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy Basic Police School graduated this past weekend.

As the graduation ceremony arrived on Friday at the Hermitage Hills Baptist Church, there were smiles of joy and a look of confidence as the WCSO deputies from Class #1987 walked across the floor to receive their Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission Certificate.

“We wish you all continued success as you take another step forward in your careers and the impact you will make in our community,” the Wilson County Sheriff’s Department said.

The Basic Police School’s mission is to produce a physically fit, highly motivated, basically trained police officer thoroughly indoctrinated in the ethics and professional standards of the law enforcement profession.

The graduating officers of the 12-week-long academy received a degree of both technical and tactical proficiency to function on the streets as well as in the criminal and civil courts of Tennessee.

Upon completion of the 10-week-long FTO Program on patrol, the newly graduated deputies will be assigned accordingly.
