October 27, 2023 – During the early morning hours of October 13th and October 27th, the White House Police Department received numerous reports of auto burglaries occurring in random neighborhoods throughout the city.

During the investigations it was discovered that the suspects were all dropped off in neighborhoods and would run from car to car, looking for unlocked vehicles. Once an unlocked vehicle was discovered, they would spend about 5 seconds looking inside for valuable items to steal.

During the October 13th burglary spree, stolen credit cards were used in Nashville at approximately 6am. During the burglary spree on the 27th, WHPD officers made contact with a suspect vehicle around 2am, and the vehicle fled south on 31W toward Nashville at speeds well over 100mph.

The term that is used is “car hopping”. The easiest way to prevent yourself from being a victim is to lock your vehicles at night, and secure your valuables.

There have been 8 handguns stolen from unlocked vehicles in the city during these burglaries. The WHPD encourages everyone to NEVER leave a handgun inside their vehicle overnight, even if your vehicle is locked.

WHPD is actively pursuing leads in these burglaries. If you have any information, please contact the police department at 615-672-4903.
