Ronald “Coach” “Ronnie” “Ron” Allen Taylor passed away peacefully on July 15, 2023 in Gallatin, TN at Sumner Regional Medical Center surrounded by family at the age of 75.

He was born on May 23rd, 1948 in Gallatin TN and preceded in death by his adopted father, David Lee Taylor and adopted mother, Mabel Henson Taylor.

Ron grew up in South Tunnel and Gallatin, TN and was active as an athlete and football player.

Ron will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his family members and spouse of 54 years, Patricia Ann Taylor; children, Michael Scott Taylor (Cindy) of Knoxville, TN; Ted Ashley Taylor, (Marie) of Gallatin, TN; and Matthew Brady Taylor (Leigh) of Portland, TN; as well as 5 grandchildren, Will, Samuel, Annabelle, Julia, and Everly. Ron is survived by several biological siblings, relatives, and close friends and for many years was an active member of the Hartsville Pike Church of Christ in Gallatin, TN.

Ron graduated from Gallatin High School (1966), Middle Tennessee State University (1971), and Tennessee State University (1981) with degrees in Education and Administration. Ron touched thousands of lives of students and athletes as an Educator, Coach, Athletic Director, and Administrator with Sumner County Schools, Talladega Academy Alabama, and Dublin High School Georgia with a teaching career of 36 years, where he made significant contributions in the lives of his students and athletes that he mentored and coached.

Ron’s passion for football led him to State Championships and winning football teams. His dedication as a coach was evident in his everyday life. He often spent hours on the practice field, watching tapes, and writing football plays.

He also enjoyed fishing and singing in church and in various civic club minstrel performances in the area. Ron was very giving and generous with others and often sacrificed his own well-being for others putting into practice his Christian faith in many ways. He even helped to organize their church’s tornado relief ministry when called upon.

The family has chosen to not hold a formal memorial service but will have a private graveside gathering for family at Old Brush Cemetery in Portland, TN at a time and date to be decided.
