Roger Dale Thomas, age 73, of Hendersonville, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024.
Roger was born on September 29, 1950, to his parents Robert and Laura Thomas, in Madison, Tennessee.
He was one of five children. He attended Goodlettsville High School and was in the graduating Class of 1968. Roger worked for Oscar Mayer, packaging meat for over 20 years, then he worked for the Lowes of Hendersonville, for another 20 years before he retired.
Outside of work, Roger was known to spend his time detailing his car and enjoyed fishing. He was also a master gun smith, who specialized in black powder guns. He was talented in his craft of restoration and building guns. Roger was a Christian man who attended Believers Baptist Fellowship Church, in Hendersonville. He loved his church, family and friends, and will be remembered for his great sense of humor.
Roger Dale Thomas is survived by his son, Stuart Thomas; siblings, Richard Lee Thomas, Linda Troutt Motley, Shelia (Steve) Harris; sister-in-law, Linda Fay Thomas (wife of the late John W. Thomas); cousin, Norma Jean Morris Rayborn; best friend of 48 years, Ricky Troutt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Thomas; mother, Laura Louise (Troutt) Thomas; brother, John Wayne Thomas; sister-in-law, Melissa Harned Thomas (the late wife of Richard Lee Thomas); maternal grandparents, J.T. and Norma Troutt; and paternal grandparents, John W. Thomas, and Lellie (Holmes) Thomas.
Visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Home, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and again on Thursday, April 25, from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M..
The funeral service in honor of Mr. Roger Thomas, will take place on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 10:00 A.M., Bro. David Bowers will be officiating.
Interment will immediately follow in Sumner Memorial Gardens. Those serving as pallbearers are Billy Brown, Caden Brown, Ryan Harris, Jared Hesson, Daniel Perry, and David Poe. Honorary pallbearers are Trey Bush, John Patterson, Barnell Roberson, and James Thomas. https://www.alexandergallatin.com
