Richard C. “Bud” Spence, age 75, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022, in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

Bud was born in Flint, Michigan on July 5, 1947 to Edward Wesley Spence and Lois Mae (Vertrees) Spence.

Bud is preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother Lou Todd, two brothers, and a sister.

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara; daughters Elizabeth (Wesley) Greene, Jeannie (John) Isbell, and Irene Spence; sons Darryl (Dave) Lewis and Corde (Kelly) Lewis; 10 grandchildren: Heath Greene, Heather Greene, Angela (Jay) Jones and Winsley, Kevin (Kayla) VanConant, Ryan (Dani) Youngblood, John (Sammi) Isbell II, Madelyn Christian, Aubrey (Kelsey) Palmer, Nikolas Taylor, and Hayden Schlosser; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters Susie Jacko and Linda Inman and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was a happy soul who loved and was loved by his family, friends, and fur babies. He also had a special liking for his Pabst Blue Ribbon. Besides driving a truck, he loved his race car driving days where he won his first car race at the age of 14 in Flint, MI. His love for racing extended to watching NASCAR every opportunity and sharing beloved stories of yesteryear.

Bud served his country in the United States Army, was a proud member of VFW, VVA and the American Legion. He was a member of the Hillbilly Clan #55. In addition, Bud was a Mason and a Shriner.

Visitation will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Hendersonville Memory Gardens & Funeral Home. The Service will begin at 2 pm, with military honors to follow. https://www.hendersonvillefh.com

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
