Paul Allen Mason Sr., age 81, of Bethpage, Tennessee passed away in his home on Wednesday, July 20th, 2023.
Paul was born to parents William and Maisie Mason on January 31st, 1942, in Springfield, TN.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, William and Maisie, his brother, William Henry Mason, his sister Dorothy Mae Troutt, and his wife, Lydia Gail Williams Mason.
Paul is survived by his children, Melissa (Dan) Barber, Paul A. Mason Jr., William David (Kim) Mason, and Michael J. Mason. Paul is also survived by his 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Paul Allen Mason was said to have been a strong man and a true fighter. A veteran of the United States Army, he was a Sergeant in the military. A Vietnam War veteran, he earned many badges and medals, including the combat infantryman badge, the national defense service medal, and was a two-time purple heart recipient. He was drafted into the army just three weeks after getting married to his wife, Lydia. Instead of running to Canada he stood his ground and fought for what he loved, his god, his country, and his honor, and his duty.
After his service, Paul was a cabinetmaker for 30 years up until his retirement. After he retired, he enjoyed spending his free time spending time outside fishing, bowling, and very much liked playing his guitar. He also loved spending time with his family, taking trips to the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, and Talladega were fond memories that they all got to cherish together. Although he is gone, he is not forgotten.

A visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Home and Cremation Center on Monday, July 24th, 2023, from 3 pm until 7 pm. Then again on Tuesday, July 25th, 2023, from 10 am until 12 pm with our service starting promptly at 12 pm. A burial will follow at Bushs Chapel Cemetery.
