Mary Beth Powers, age 90, of Gallatin, Tennessee, entered into peace on March 19, 2024.

She was born on July 5, 1933, to her parents John and Naomi Nutter, in Conway, Arkansas.

As a young lady, Mary Beth attended Southern Nazarene University, in Bethany, Oklahoma. This is where she met and fell in love with Richmond Wade Powers. They were joined in matrimony on July 4, 1952, and were married for over 70 years.

Mary Beth’s heart was filled with her love of God, her husband, and her children. Her life was dedicated to serving the Lord and being a godly woman. Mary Beth and her husband established the 1st Church of the Nazarene, in Hendersonville, Tennessee, in 1964. In addition to the work she did supporting her husband, she also retired as a secretary, within Sumner County Schools.

In her personal time, Mary Beth loved to play all kinds of games with her family and was a very talented quilter. She was a member of the Lakeshore Quilt Guild. She was a devoted Christian, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and recently, great-grandmother. Family and friends will remember her great sense of humor, benevolent nature, and the impact she had on their lives. She will be dearly missed by all whose paths she brightened.

Mary Beth (Nutter) Powers is survived by her sons, Dennis (Sharon) Powers, of Gallatin, TN, Randy (Vicki) Powers, of Nashville, TN; daughter, Katie (Ed) Herrick, of Gallatin, TN; grandchildren, Alex (Carly) Powers, of Nashville, TN, Hannah (Taylor) Orr, of Memphis, TN; step-grandson, Travis (Hether) Nabors, of Mason, TN; great-granddaughter, Gracie Orr, of Memphis, TN; step-great-grandchildren, Kaitlynne (Van) Rieman, of Florida, Hayden Nabors, of Mason, TN; siblings, Bill Nutter, of Arkansas, Gary (Jeannie) Nutter, of Arkansas, Pam (Robert) Balentine, of Arkansas, Leroy (Carol Lou) Nutter, of Hendersonville, TN, Dale (Kay) Nutter, of Atlanta, GA, Shirley (Eric) Joffs, of Utah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Dr. Richmond Wade Powers; father, John W. Nutter; mother, Naomi Irene (Lieblong) Nutter; and brother, John Everett Nutter.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 11:00 A.M., until time of service, at 2:00 P.M..

Dr. Ted Hill and Bro. Mike Blankenship will be officiating the funeral service. Interment in Crestview Memory Gardens will immediately follow the service. Those serving as pallbearers are Randy Carter, Mike Foster, Kevin Sanderson, Danny Sullivan, James ‘Bubba’ Wallace, and Tom Weekly.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to either Gallatin Cares, or Volunteer State Foundation for Scholarships.
