Lawrence Dean “Larry” Smith, age 83 of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022.
He was born November 28, 1938 in Macon County, TN to the late Eldon and Ovie Gregory Smith.
Mr. Smith began his career in banking with Commerce Union Bank in Nashville and in 1968, moved to Citizen’s Bank in Hendersonville, where he retired as a Senior Vice President.
A life-long love of cars, he loved collecting and building cars, and was a co-founder of the Nashville Street Rod Club, and also served as their President. He was very active in the Hendersonville community, serving in many capacities among a number of different groups. Above all, he was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 63 years, Paula Ray Smith; children, Jeffrey Dean Smith, Londa “DeeDee” Tanner, and Michael Lee Smith; grandchildren, Ryne Thompson, Brent Smith, Braden Smith, and Maggie Smith.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 23 in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Friday at Sumner Funeral and Cremation Lakeside in Hendersonville. https://www.sumnerfuneral.com
