Elisabetha Cassel Baugh of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022, she was 98 years old.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hermann and Anna Cassel, sister, Mia Knapp, and husband, Colonel Russell Baugh.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Tim) Webster, and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Baugh was born on July 3, 1924, in Ginsweiler, Germany.

She attended the Mädchen Oberschule and Stuttgart Interpreters’ School in Germany, and worked for the Kreissparkasse Kusel, the U.S. military in Stuttgart, and Chase Manhattan Bank in Frankfurt, before moving to New York City in 1955. There she worked for Products of Asia, a Rockefeller company, before marrying Col. Russell Baugh and moving to Ft. Carson, Colorado. As an Army wife, she moved and traveled all over the world, visiting more than 120 countries and all seven continents.

She and her husband moved to Nashville in 1974, where she was active for many years in the Vanderbilt Woman’s Club, the Granny White Garden Club, and the Nashville Opera Guild, and worked as a travel consultant for Caldwell Travel. She was a long-time supporter of the Nashville Symphony and classical music lover and attended symphonies and operas all over the world.

A memorial service and burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, DC.

The family thanks the staff at the Hearth at Hendersonville where she resided since 2012 for taking excellent care of her in both assisted living and memory care.
