Mr. Larry W. Anderson, age 76, of Westmoreland, TN passed away on August 24, 2021.

At Larry’s request, there will only be a private family service due to COVID-19.

Larry is survived by his wife, Willie Mai Anderson; son and his wife, Larry Jason (Diana C.) Anderson; daughter and her husband, Samantha Adrienne (Matt) Hopkins; his grandchildren, Adrianne Faith, Amelia Grace, Cole, Will Henry, and Emma Kate; and his brother, Jimmy (Joyce) Anderson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Nellie Anderson.

Larry was first and foremost a Christian. He was involved in his community and shared his faith with countless souls. Larry and his beloved wife Willie worked in children’s ministry and Larry invested himself selflessly into the lives of young people all over his community. Larry was also an exceptionally gifted teacher and taught regularly at his church Robert’s Tabernacle for several decades. Larry worked in youth ministry, marriage counseling and was a deacon. Larry was known to be a compassionate and empathetic man who loved unconditionally and mentored and ministered to all those around him.

Larry started his career at TRW Ross Gear in Lebanon, Tn. While there, he worked his way through an apprenticeship program and worked as a mechanical engineer. After an illness changed the projection of his life, Larry owned and operated a starter and alternator rebuild shop along with an auto parts store (Custom Rebuilders and Auto Parts). From there he moved onto residential construction and built a reputation for building high-quality homes (Anderson Construction). Larry retired from building in 2007. Larry went on to work with his son Jason in his auto parts store before completely retiring in 2013.

Larry enjoyed horseback riding, woodworking, reading, studying the Bible, Titans football, telling stories, music, and his favorite hobby, classic cars. Larry was an avid car enthusiast and a skilled car builder. Over the years he built and owned dozens of classics. It was a passion of Larry’s and he enjoyed sharing his cars with the world.

Larry was also an animal lover and always had to have a good Tom-cat and at least one dog. More than anything else, Larry loved his family and enjoyed every second he spent with them. Larry poured himself into his children (Jason, Samantha, Dianna, and Matt) and grandchildren (Adrianne, Amelia, Cole, Will, and Emma). Larry loved his children’s spouses as if they were his own. Larry left no doubts about how deep his love was for his family and he shared a unique and deep relationship with each of them. However, the love of his life was his wife, Willie Mae. Larry was passionately in love with Willie from their very first date until the day he passed. Anyone who knew Larry knew how much he adored his wife. Larry and Willie would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on Oct 9th of this year. Over half his life, half a century to be able to be with his best friend and love of his life was truly a blessed and cherished life. Larry on numerous occasions stated he always prayed to leave this life before her because he could not fathom it without her. On Aug 24, 2021, his prayers were answered. Though he will be greatly missed by family and friends, we know we will meet again soon. Larry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The Anderson family would like to publicly thank all the nurses, care partners, doctors, and staff at Vanderbilt Medical Center for their kindness, care, and love showed to Larry and his family.
