Joyce-L.-Murray

On Friday, June 23rd, 2023, Joyce L. Murray passed away at 83 years old.

Joyce is survived by her children, Debbie (Randall) Wakefield, Cathy Nutter, Jerry Long, and Mike Murray. Joyce was affectionately called grandma by 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by many dear family members including her husband, Tom Murray, and her son, Gene Long.

Joyce worked for many years at Oscar Meyer where she made many friends until she went to work for Prestige Printing. She worked well past the traditional age of retirement because she loved the people that she worked with. Joyce loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. She had the gift of hospitality and was always eager to welcome guests into her home.

She was loved and will be missed but she leaves a beautiful legacy. Her legacy is a living, breathing thing because it resides in her children, grandchildren, and even friends whom she considered family. Her legacy is alive in the things we say, and the mannerisms with which we say them, and the glimmers of her physical appearance reflected on our faces.

A visitation and service will be held at Alexander Funeral Home and Cremation Center on Thursday, June 29th, 2023. Visitation will start at 9 am and last until the service starts at 12:30 pm. A graveside service will immediately follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.

Alexander Funeral Home and Cremation Center are to oversee all funeral arrangements. 584 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, TN 37066 Phone: (615) 502-0011. Online condolences may be expressed at alexandergallatin.com

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me
When tomorrow starts without me,
And I’m not there to see;
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me;
I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me, I know you’ll miss me too
So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don’t think we’re far apart,
For every time you think of me, I’m right here, in your heart
-David Romano

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
