OBITUARY: Chester Allen Roberts Jr.


Chester Allen Roberts, Jr. of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed away at his home on April 26, 2024, at the age of 76, surrounded by his family.

Allen was born in Nashville, Tennessee to Chester and Tommie Roberts on August 21, 1947.

He grew up in Hendersonville, where he attended Hendersonville High School. He went on to attend Lipscomb College and followed his father, Big Chester, into the printing business at Brandau Craig Dickerson. Allen went on to start his own company where he was very successful up until just last year when he retired. He was in the printing business a total of over 50 years.

One of Allen’s passions in life was his love of music, which he passed on to his children. Another was his love of the water and boating, where he spent most of his free time relaxing on his houseboat with fellow boaters and friends. Allen was a devout Christian man who was a devoted husband and loving father.

Allen is preceded in death by his parents, Chester Allen Roberts, Sr. and Tommie Brown Roberts; as well as his beloved dog, Max “Little Buddy.”

He is survived by his wife, Marian Jeanette Roberts; son, Chester “Chet” Allen Roberts III; daughter, Catherine Roberts Smith (Ryan); stepson, Michael Robertson (Patty); grandchildren, Reed, Hudson, Grant, Paisley, and Chance. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Nancy Lima; along with extended family, life-long friends in Cookeville and Arkansas, and his boating buddies at the dock.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 12:00 pm- 2:00 pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home (353 E. Main St., Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075). The memorial service for Allen will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home (353 E. Main St., Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075). A graveside service will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens (353 E. Main St., Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Chester Allen Roberts, Jr’s name to Alive Hospice.
