Carl W. Edison, III, age 68 of Gallatin, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
Carl was born on May 17, 1955 to the late Carl William Edison, Jr. and the late Mattie Delores Rector Edison.
A native of Nashville, Carl spent his life in Middle Tennessee where he had a 44 year career in law enforcement. He served 10 years with the Hendersonville Police Department and retired as Major from the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office after 34 years of service.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Linda Edison; children, Cheryl Hunt (Mike), Alicia Matthews (Josh) and Carl W. “Chip” Edison, IV (Angela); grandchildren, Kyle, Kennedy and Gunner Hunt, Jase, Maci and Claire Matthews; and sister, Patricia “Patty” Rose
Although he dedicated his life to law enforcement, the true love and joy in his life was his wife, children, grandchildren, dogs and grand-dogs. He and Linda shared a wonderful life together full of adventures from the Pro Bowl in Hawaii, to just being with family in Gatlinburg, or sharing time at home.
He was so very proud, blessed, and thankful for who his children have become. He was just as proud, blessed and thankful for the spouses of his daughters and son with the love, respect, and support provided to them and his grandchildren. In addition, he was very thankful for the love and support to his daughters by their mother Deann Edison.
Funeral Services were conducted on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Chapel of Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside with Pastor Jared Styles officiating. Interment will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Visitation was on Monday from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral service.
