Bro. Mark Scott, age 64 of Gallatin, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

Bro. Scott was born June 2, 1959 in Gallatin.

He is preceded in death by parents, Shirley Temple Brooks Rodgers and Leslie Freeman Rodgers; birth father, James B. Scott; and sister, Linda Scott.

He is survived by wife of 41 years, Carol Phillips Scott of Gallatin; son, Andrew Scott (Ashley) of Cottontown; brother, Steve Scott (Susan) of Bowling Green, KY; sisters, Barbara Lane (Marty) of Lafayette and Virginia White (Mark) of Gallatin; and grandson, Tucker Scott.

He graduated from Gallatin High School in 1977; continuing his education, he received a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree at Trevecca Nazarene University in Organizational Management.

After graduation, he worked for Peterbilt, Honeywell, and was currently employed by NIC Global Manufacturing Solutions. Bro. Mark loved the Lord and was a minister in the General Baptist Church for 41 years. He traveled and sang gospel music with the Beacons for 5 years, continuing his ministries with his wife, Carol for their entire marriage.

He served at New Hope Church in Westmoreland as a Youth Director; Cornerstone General Baptist Church in Gallatin for 19 years, serving as Music Director, Youth Pastor, and Associate Pastor; he assisted in planting Freedom Church in Gallatin for 5 years, where he served as Associate Pastor and Worship Director; he led the early worship service at First Presbyterian Church in Gallatin for 9 years; and Union Chapel General Baptist Church in Portland as Lead Pastor for 16 years. Bro. Mark enjoyed woodworking and music.

Funeral Service will be Friday, March 29th at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage at Gallatin, Bro. Chris Roberts, Bro. Larry Treadway, Bro. Mark Holmes, and Bro. David Harper officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 27th from 4:00 -8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 28th from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m., and Friday, March 29th from 11:30 a.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Crestview Memory Gardens, with Steve Scott, Marty Lane, Mark White, Bill Bryant, Steve Callis, Curt Miller, and Pat Harrell serving as pallbearers.
