Boyd H. “Buddy” Parsons, Jr., age 86, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023, with his family by his side.

Buddy was born on November 19, 1936, to Boyd H. Parsons, Sr. and Ida Neil (Hopwood) Parsons in Nashville, Tennessee.

Buddy graduated from West High School Class of 1955. Prior to graduating, he was on the State Championship Basketball team “ALL THE WAY FOR DOC” of 1954. Buddy was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He enjoyed trips to the duck camp in Mississippi and a fishing camp in Waverly with his best friend Clay Tidwell. He loved playing the guitar and writing songs, his writing talent enabled him to write personal cards to his wife instead of buying store bought cards.

Buddy was a 60 plus year resident of Hendersonville, a long time and active member of First Baptist Church in Hendersonville. Buddy was an integral part of the growth of Hendersonville, working in real estate, banking, and the construction industry. He also was co-owner of Bud & Joe’s Bar B Que. When his children were younger, he could be found coaching girl’s softball or his son’s baseball team. His most cherished memory was being with his family on all occasions, especially the holidays. His loving spirit will be greatly missed.

Buddy is preceded in death by his parents Boyd and Ida Neil Parsons and his daughter Breta Parsons Alexander.

He is survived by his loving wife Earline (Mullins) Parsons, daughters Beverly Parsons (Donny) Whittaker and Carmen (Mark) Nelson; son Jeff (Becky) Parsons; grandchildren Blair (Mark) Bego, Luke (Alex) Whittaker, Brooke (Ruben Nogueira) Alexander, Grady Parsons, Zoe Nelson, Riley Nelson, Nate Parsons, and Bowen Parsons; 3 great-granddaughters Ally Bego, Callie Whittaker, and Millie Whittaker; his sister Jody Rogers; nephews Kurt (Sherry) Chandler and Randy Chandler; and best friend Clay Tidwell.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, from 10 am-1 pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 1 pm in the Chapel at the funeral home officiated by Jeff Lake. Burial will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. https://www.hendersonvillefh.com

Active pallbearers will be Clay Tidwell, Grady Parsons, Nate Parsons, Bryson Alexander, Ruben Nogueira, Mark Nelson, Luke Whittaker, and Mark Bego.
