Bill Lawhon, age 82, passed away on December 22, 2023. He was born on February 15, 1941 in Doniphan, Missouri to the late Harold and Mable Lawhon.

Bill grew up in Hendersonville and graduated from Hendersonville High School in 1962. He and his brother enjoyed racing hydros on Old Hickory Lake.

Bill’s military service was a testament to his selflessness and bravery. He proudly served in the Navy during the Vietnam War for four years aboard the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier. His service took him around the world.

He found the love of his life, Pat, in 1972. Bill never asked Pat to marry him, but instead told her, “We’re getting married,” to which Pat didn’t disagree.

Bill worked at Dupont and later retired from Prestige Printing. Family meant everything to Bill. He was genuinely happy when you were happy and sad when you were sad. Bill enjoyed playing video games with his grandchildren. Bill was a deacon at his church, he embodied faith and shared it with others through acts of kindness and compassion. Bill enjoyed going to car shows and auctions. Bill also enjoyed cheering on both the Atlanta Braves and Tennessee Titans.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his sisters, Jewel Holman and Lola Finn.

Bill is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pat; son, Paul Lawhon (Patty); grandchildren, Diane Gray (Janie) and Nate Lawhon (Jordan); siblings, Rena Woodard and Kenny Lawhon (Tracy); along with several beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place on December 26, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and on December 27, 2023, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A funeral service will follow on December 27, 2023, at 12:00 pm, with burial at the same location at 1:00 pm. https://www.hendersonvillefh.com

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Bill’s name to a charity of your choice.
