Avalene R. (Brock) Rohde of Hendersonville, Tennessee (formerly of Grants Pass, OR and Ypsilanti, MI), passed away May 19, 2023 at the age of 93.
She was born December 4, 1929 in Medford, Oregon to the late W. Robert and Ruth Brock.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years Robert E. Rohde, three baby daughters and only son Robert R. Rohde, brother Darold Brock, and grandson Jamie Jared.
Avalene is survived by her daughter Sherylene Rohde (Phillip Lemmonds), three grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and extended family.
Though born and raised in southern Oregon, she met her husband in Michigan where they raised their two children in Ypsilanti. She spent many years working as an LPN in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area. In 1975, she and Bob moved to Grants Pass, Oregon for their retirement years. Avalene enjoyed being back in “God’s country”. She was an avid lover of all things animal—especially horses, dogs, cats and even the bears that visited the back yard for apples.
After 43 years, in 2018, the decision was made to move closer to family in Hendersonville, TN.
A private family service and internment in Michigan will be held at a later date for both Avalene and her husband Bob—together again. Forever in our hearts.
