Alice Dean Suddarth, 84 of Portland, TN, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.

Mrs. Suddarth was born June 29, 1939 to the late Coy Samuel Ferrell and Paira Lee Waldon Ferrell.

Along with her parents, Mrs. Suddarth was preceded in death by her brothers, JD Ferrell and Roy Ferrell both of Lebanon, TN and best friends, Bobbie Sue Hudson and Sue Harper.

Mrs. Suddarth is survived by her husband of 61 years, Elmer Suddarth; children, Beverley (Steve) Perdue and Patricia (Tim) Coker all of Portland; grandchildren, Lacey Perdue of Nashville, TN., Jasmine Perdue of Gallatin, TN., Breanna Perdue of Nashville, TN., and Jack and Seth Coker of Portland, TN.; sister, Beulah(Gerald) Hennessee of Gallatin, TN.; brother, Charles Ferrell of Lebanon, TN.

Mrs. Suddarth was the best wife, mama, grandma and mother-in-law her family could ask for. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Alice was at church in service and worship every time the doors were open.

She was known for being an excellent cook. Alice was especially known for her chocolate pies, coconut cake, and carrot cake. Elmer and Alice moved to Sumner County from Wilson County in 1967. She loved their farm of 54 years and worked side-by-side with her husband of 61 years. She loved to cut and rake hay and set tobacco. She was excellent at all of it. If you couldn’t find Alice in her house or on her tractor, you could find her in the garden or feeding their chickens.

Funeral service for Mrs. Suddarth will be on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Wilkinson Wiseman Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Coker officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 5-8 p.m., Friday, February 2, 2024 from 5-8 p.m. and on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. funeral time. https://www.wilkinsonwiseman.com

Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Newland, Danny Brooks, Kerry Bradley, Steve Perdue, Billy Ray Suddarth, and Dwight Prock, with Richard Rogers, Randy Baird, Charlie Darden, Ronnie Turner, Monroe Earls, Tommy Nolen, Hilary Suddarth and all of Mrs. Suddarth’s grandchildren serving as honorary pallbearers.

Following the funeral service, interment will be in Old Brush Cemetery.
