GALLATIN, TN – The Gallatin Fire Department has launched an online self-reporting system called “Community Connect” where residents can enter information about their homes giving first responders critical information during an emergency response. The information is similar to what a 9-1-1 dispatcher would request, except the fire department would have this information before an emergency call. Community Connect for Gallatin residents can be found at www.gallatintn.gov/connect.

“Community Connect provides an avenue for residents to share their critical emergency information,” says Gallatin Fire Chief Jeff Beaman. “We encourage all of our residents to provide the information they are comfortable sharing with their Fire Department.” Beaman says this information is very important for all households, but especially for those with elderly residents or with a special needs family member.

The system requests information such as bedroom locations, Knox Box location, gate code, gas shut-off location, water shut-off location, electric shut-off location, occupants with functional needs, pets & farm animals, special hazards in the household and contact information. Community Connect is also a portal to apply for a burn permit and register a smoke alarm system.

“We invest so much in personnel and equipment in order to have the lowest response times,” said Gallatin Mayor Paige Brown. “Now our first responders can be better prepared if residents are willing to share their information.”

Your household information will never be shared or used for anything other than Gallatin emergency services. Community Connect is a free cloud-based program that does not require downloading an app. All logins are password protected with bank-level encryption and security.
