One Killed, One Charged after Crash in Gallatin

January 30, 2024 – At approximately 6:16am on January 28th, 2024, the Gallatin Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality at the intersection of Airport Rd and Old Airport Road.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that a Dodge Durango, operated by Joaquin Pena- Ramos, entered the oncoming lane of travel and collided head-on with a Jeep Patriot. The driver of the Jeep, Brian Neville was transported by the Sumner County EMS to a local medical facility where he was pronounced deceased.

Subsequent investigations have indicated that the initial causation of the crash was due to Driving Under the Influence and the Gallatin Police Department has taken swift action, charging Joaquin Pena-Ramos with the following offenses: Vehicular Homicide, Driving Under the Influence 2nd Offense, Implied Consent Law Violation, Reckless Endangerment with a Motor Vehicle, Driving on a Revoked License, Violation of the Financial Responsibility Law, and Failure to Maintain Lane of Travel. It is important to note that this investigation is ongoing, and the toxicology analysis of Mr. Ramos is pending.

The Gallatin Police Department urges all drivers to remain vigilant and to prioritize the safety of themselves and others while operating motor vehicles. Driving Under the Influence poses a serious threat to public safety and can result in devastating consequences.
