Travis Tharp, a cherished husband, father, son, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on March 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Born on December 8, 1981, in Wichita, Kansas. Travis was the beloved son of Roy Lee Tharp and Susan Rebecca Alexander Tharp. He was 44 years old.

Travis’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication. He found his soulmate early in life, meeting Christie Tharp on her first day at White House Middle School in Tennessee. From that moment, he knew that he would marry her one day. Their love story blossomed, and they were married on April 8, 2012, at Friendship Baptist Church in Goodlettsville, TN. Together, they built a life rich in love and laughter, blessed with three beautiful children: Rebecca, Jaylee, and Alley Tharp.

A skilled and dedicated carpenter, Travis began working full-time alongside his father and Uncle Donnie at the tender age of 16. Under his father’s guidance, he learned the importance of perseverance and providing for one’s family, values he carried with him throughout his life. Travis’s career spanned several roles, including working for subcontractors, stocking nights at Kroger in White House, and most recently, serving with dedication at Sky Property Management for five years.

Travis’s passions extended beyond his work. He was an avid musician, finding joy in playing the guitar and was the lead singer in a band that performed around Iowa. His time on the road with The Ranch Hands Band was filled with music and camaraderie. Travis also cherished the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing, hunting, and spending quality time with his family, activities that brought him immense joy and peace.

Travis is survived by his loving mother, Susan Tharp; his devoted wife, Christie; and their children, Rebecca, Jaylee, and Alley. He is also remembered by his in-laws, Ronny and Darlene Huff, along with many friends and extended family who were touched by his kindness and zest for life. He is preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee Tharp; his paternal grandparents, Charles “Chuck” Tharp and Pearl Swofford Tharp; and his maternal grandparents, Loren Alexander and Bertha Iola Alexander; who welcomed him with open arms.

The family invites all who knew Travis to celebrate his life at a funeral service on March 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Sellars Family Heritage at Portland with Bro. Bud Ridener officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Portland Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be on March 20, 2026 from 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM.

Travis Tharp will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his enduring spirit, and the music that filled his heart and the hearts of those who knew him. His life was a melody that will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace, forever in our hearts.
