Ruby Christine Gregory Gage, age 81, was born on May 11, 1945, in Fountain Head, Tennessee. She peacefully entered her eternal home on June 29, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and compassion.
Christine was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, William Ray Gage; her parents, Luther Franklin Gregory, Sr., and Jewell Christine Gregory.
Her loving children survive her: Monica Petty (Richard), Laura Hobdy (Scott), William David Gage, and Amanda Hartle (Danny); her brothers, Luther Franklin Gregory, Jr. (Helen), and Cecil Douglas Gregory (Connie); and her cherished grandchildren: Richard Petty Jr. (McKayla), Kaitlynn Ennis, Janie Petty, Hailey Hobdy, Scott Hobdy III, Gregory Hobdy, and Deacon Gage. Her family was her greatest blessing, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Christine dedicated her professional life to education through the Sumner County Board of Education. She spent most of her career teaching second grade at Guild School, where she touched the lives of countless children. She had a special gift for working one-on-one with her students and found immense joy in helping them learn to read. Her patience, kindness, and unwavering belief in every child’s potential left a lasting impression on generations of students and their families.
Beyond the classroom, Christine devoted many years to serving as a Girl Scout leader. She found great joy in mentoring young girls, helping them build confidence, develop lifelong skills, and create lasting memories. Her compassion and encouragement influenced countless young lives, both inside and outside the classroom.
An avid reader herself, Christine believed in the power of books to educate, inspire, and comfort. She also found great joy in quilting, sewing, and cross-stitching. She lovingly cared for her many plants, finding peace in nurturing them and delighting in watching them flourish. She appreciated life’s simple blessings and found joy in sharing them with others.
Christine will be remembered for her steadfast love for her family and unwavering dedication to the children whose lives she enriched as a teacher, Girl Scout leader, and mentor. The lives she touched through her teaching, wisdom, kindness, and example will forever reflect her enduring legacy.
While her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in God’s promise of eternal life and find comfort in knowing she is at peace in His presence. Though she will be deeply missed, her love, faith, and influence will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
