Raymond Vanuel Thompson, age 93, gained his heavenly home on May 7, 2024.

He was born July 13, 1930 to Loyd and Mary Thompson.

As a young man, Raymond served as a sergeant in the United States Army from 1950 to 1953 during the Korean War. Following his service, he worked at Genesco Shoe Factory, Armstrong Tire, and retired from Pirelli Tire.

Outside of work, Raymond enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing billiards with friends, and bus tour trips. He was a great man of faith who loved his Lord, and he was a hard worker. Raymond was well-loved, and never met a stranger; he will be dearly missed.

Raymond Vanuel Thompson is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Joan Goodall Thompson; daughter, Connie Gregory (Mark); daughter, Cristal Russell; grandchildren, Adrian Johnson (Michael), Kyle Gregory (Laura), Jonathon Young (Shawna), Jeremy Russell (Elizabeth); great-grandchildren, Cole Johnson, Cade Johnson, Charlotte Gregory, Sawyer Gregory, Olivia Gregory, Madison Young, Benjamin Young, Sam Young; brother, Clois Thompson (Arlene).

He was preceded in death by father, Loyd Thompson; and son-in-law, Jerry Russell.

Visitation with the family will take place on Sunday, May 12, from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., at Crestview Funeral Home, 1623 Hwy 109 North in Gallatin. The funeral service will be Monday, May 13, at Crestview Funeral Home, at 1:00 P.M.. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until service time. Bro. Travis Fleming Will be officiating. Entombment will be at Sumner Memorial Gardens. Those serving as pallbearers will be Terry Thompson, Davey Richardson, Mark Burton, Ken Winter, Tim Goodall, and Tony Oliver. https://www.crestviewfh.com
