Randy Kling, age 85 of Gallatin, TN passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024.
Mr. Kling was born August 8, 1938 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Leonard Kling and Leona Trittin Kling.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Leonard Kling, Calvin Kling, Ronald Kling, and Dr. Kenneth Kling; and sister, Virginia Knapp.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 38 years, Nancy Falls Kling of Gallatin, TN; son, Chad Kling of Hermitage, TN; step-daughters, Mica Evans Hider (Sandy) of Chester, MD and Kelly Evans Roberson (Jason) of Lafayette, LA; sister, Shirley Cutting of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Benjamin Thomas Roberson and Vera Catherine Roberson; and many nieces and nephews. Randy leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of his family.
Mr. Kling served our country in the United States Army. Randy, a lifelong music enthusiast, shaped his illustrious career with a relentless pursuit of sound perfection. Starting at RCA Records Chicago, his journey from vault attendant to Mastering Engineer saw him sculpting the sounds of iconic Motown, RCA, and Warner Brother records.
Relocating to Nashville, he established “Randy’s Roost,” later evolving it into DiscMastering, pioneering the transition into the digital era. Over five decades, he collaborated with numerous high-profile artists, mastering over 200 Gold and Platinum albums. In 2015, his exceptional contributions were honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Nashville Audio Engineering Society and celebrated at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
Celebration of Life Service, with Military Honors, will be Friday, March 8th at 12:00 p.m. at Long Hollow Church, 3031 Long Hollow Pike, Hendersonville, TN 37075. Visitation will be Friday, March 8th from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. Inurnment will be private.
