Nellie Catherine Withers Bruce, age 89 of Gallatin, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 surrounded by her family.
Nell was born in Gallatin on February 17, 1933 to the late Rufus Cofield Withers and Elizabeth Catherine Gorham Withers.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Russell Bruce; daughter, Cathey (Bill) Roark; son, Chris (Karen) Bruce; four grandchildren, Christy Pope, April (Matt) Moses, Rachael (Nathan) Shell, and Christina (Brandon) Clark; sixteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Florene Gregory, Barbara Hobdy, Marilyn Gregory, and Virginia “Jenny” Fuqua; brothers, William “Dee” Withers and Benny (Diane) Withers.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Ruth Withers, Jake Withers, Margaret Jones, Allene Wade, Robert Withers, Earl Withers, Florencie “Tonsie” Fuqua, Betty Fuqua, Sammy Withers, and Irene Moss.
Nell was a bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, and traveling. She treasured her time with her grandchildren and family. She was also the Queen of the slot machines and a bingo master.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Bruce will be held on Monday, May 16th at 2 PM at Crestview Funeral Home in Gallatin with Brother Bill Roark and Brother Glenn Creasey officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, May 15th from 2-6 PM and Monday, May 16th from 12-2. Mrs. Bruce will be interred at Crestview Memory Gardens with DJ Pope, Will Pope, Rocky Cothran, Brandon Clark, Nathan Shell, and Matt Moses serving as pallbearers. https://www.crestviewfh.com
