Melvin “Curtis” Fletcher, age 59 of Joelton, TN, passed away January 12, 2025. He was born September 29, 1965, in Dayton, OH to Leon Talton Fletcher Sr. and the former Geneva Mabel Jenkins.
Curtis grew up in Dayton, OH and later moved to Dry Ridge, KY. He joined the Army eventually serving in Seventh Special Forces as a Green Beret. During his time in the military, he served in Grenada and Panama among others. Upon his discharge, he moved back to Ohio to be with family and worked as an accomplished plumber.
He moved to Nashville in the fall of 1990 and met his soulmate, Kristen, on a blind date. Eight months later they were married and embarked on a 34-year marriage. The family grew with the birth of their children, Curtis and Kaleb, the absolute pride and joy of his entire life.
Curtis later graduated from ITT Tech with honors and worked as an Auto Cad Engineer for several years. Curtis was a connoisseur of movies, had a love for laughter, and a truly special connection to the fur babies, Madam, T-Bone, K.C., Peanut, Lucy, and Tinkerbell. Above all, he loved the Lord and spending time with his family.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Talton, Pat, Sonny, and infant brothers, twins Robert and Colbert, and Daryl. He is survived by his wife, Kristen; sons, Curtis Bryan Fletcher and James Kaleb Fletcher; grandson, Noah Curtis Fletcher; sisters, Lavonne Blanton, Lil (Mike) McDermott; brother, John (Rhonda) Fletcher; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A celebration of Curtis’ life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 17, 2025, in the Chapel of Sumner Funeral and Cremation Lakeside. The family will receive friends as early as 12:30 until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
