Mr. Malvern Rahrer age 91 of Portland, TN died Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Mr. Rahrer was born February 18, 1930 in Nashville, TN the son of the late Frank and Gladys Rahrer.

Mr. Rahrer is survived by his three sons; David Rahrer (Brenda) of Lebanon, TN, Brad Rahrer (Kathy) of Brentwood, TN, and Josh Rahrer of Portland, TN. Four grandchildren; Lynnsie Dement (Langdon), Ashley Hills (Andy), Tammy Walpole (Sam), and Tonya Pritchard (Nathan) along with four great-grandchildren Charlotte Kate, Addison Grace, Jeffrey, and Jordan.

Along with his parents, Malvern was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years Barbara Taylor Rahrer, his daughter Barbara Joan Rahrer and a sister Nancy Ann Jackson.

Mr. Rahrer was a graduate of Cohn High School in Nashville, TN. Following graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Korean War. Malvern was the manager of Wilson Truck Company until 1966 when he started his own trucking company, Portland Express, Inc. which is still operating to this day. Mr. Rahrer was an active and passionate member of the Portland Rotary Club since 1967 along with several other civic and community organizations.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Portland, TN. His ashes will be buried at Mt. Vernon Methodist Church Cemetery following the memorial service. There will be a visitation from 10:00 AM until service time Saturday at Gilbert Funeral Home. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your local Rotary International.
