Larry-James-Fuqua

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that the family of Larry James Fuqua announces his passing on November 15, 2024, at the age of 75. He fought a long and courageous battle with heart disease and is now rejoicing with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Larry was born on August 7, 1949, in Fountainhead, TN, to the late Johnny Marvin Fuqua and the late Florencie Mae Withers Fuqua.

Larry was known for never meeting a stranger and his ability to strike up a conversation with absolutely everyone. Larry had the deepest love and support for his family and community.

Larry worked at the Gallatin Fire Department for 32 years retiring on medical leave as a Captain. He had a loving heart of service and gave his all for every individual and situation he encountered. He lifted every fire and accident victim and kept them in his thoughts over the years. He grieved for those who were not so fortunate. When discovering someone in need, he would be sure and circle back – especially during the holidays – and provide blessings and encouragement. He found great joy in gathering toys for kids during Christmas and making sure families were able to provide a magical Christmas for their little ones.

In earlier years, he loved to deer hunt. He often told the funniest stories of hunting ventures with his friend Travis Swindle who passed before him. He also enjoyed farming with his Dad on his days off from the Fire Hall in earlier years. He will forever be known for his favorite green truck which he drove until the floor board rotted and you could literally see the road passing beneath your feet.

Preceded in joining the Lord: Mother & Father, Marvin and Florencie Fuqua, Brothers Randal ‘Buck’ Fuqua and Anthony Fuqua, Sister Deborah Froelich and her husband, Louis Froelich.

Survived by: His beloved wife of nearly 41 years, Teresa Sircy Fuqua. son Steven Fuqua (Tina); daughter Holly Thompson; grandsons Cole Thompson (Joselyn) and Andrew James Fuqua (who he treasured and raised as a son); a very large family of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins and estranged children Michael Fuqua and Brandy Colgate.

In respect of Larry’s wishes, there will be no formal celebration of life.

In lieu of flowers and food, the family requests considerations instead be given to a donation in his honor to the American Heart Association or the Benevolent Fund c/o the Gallatin Fire Department, 119 Chief Billy Crook Boulevard. Gallatin, TN 37066. Phone: 615-452-2771.

Larry will forever live in our hearts and memories and will be dearly missed. We are comforted knowing he believed in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and is now healed and rejoicing in Glory.

Funeral and crematory services are under the direction of Family Heritage Funeral Home in Gallatin, TN. https://www.sellarsfh.com
