Donald Ray Kirby, age 88 of Gallatin, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
Funeral Service will be Friday, July 30th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with David Jenkins officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, July 29th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Friday, July 30th from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Gallatin Cemetery, with David Kirby, Paul Samuel Kirby, Brian Kirby, Alan Keene, Edgar Reyes, and Kevin Smith serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 478 Craighead St. #200, Nashville, TN 37204. The family respectfully requests that everyone who attends the visitation or funeral service, please wear a face mask. If you do not have a face mask, the funeral home will provide one for you, thank you for caring about others.
Mr. Kirby was born January 13, 1933 in Adams, Tennessee to the late Jarrett Ivory Kirby and Alberta Lee Anderson Kirby.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by first wife, Loretta Kirby; and son, Donald Ray Kirby, Jr.
He is survived by wife of 17 years, Mary Lou Keene Kirby of Gallatin; son, David Kirby (Cathy) of Westmoreland; stepson, Johnny Ray Keene (Mary Ann) of Gallatin; stepdaughter, Carolyn Keene Smith (Kevin) of Lebanon; brothers, Howard Kirby (Jane) of Gallatin and Edward Kirby of Hendersonville; sister, Cornelia Kirby Shreeves of Lebanon; grandson, Daniel Kirby; and great-grandson, Jayden Kirby.
Mr. Kirby served our country in the United States Army. He was a longtime member and past Deacon of the First Assembly of God Church in Hendersonville. Mr. Kirby retired from Bell South Telephone Company after over 30 years of service.
