Charles E. Hawkins, Sr., age 90 of Gallatin, passed away October 27, 2021.
Funeral Service will be Thursday, November 4th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 3rd from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, November 4th from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Entombment, with Military Honors, will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Hawkins was born April 25, 1931 in Portland to the late Vernie Gillam Hawkins and Arah Evelyn Collins Hawkins.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Norma Jean Crook Hawkins; and brother, Ralph A. Hawkins.
He is survived by daughters, Debra D. Lewis (Mark) of Columbia, Lesley Lynn Tayes (John) of Thompson Station, and Stacy S. Bennett (Casey) of Stratford, CT; son, Charles E. Hawkins, Jr. (Holly) of Georgia; sister, Gloria Hawkins Smiddy of Cleveland, TN; 6 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hawkins served our country in the United States Army. He retired from IBM as Director of Human Resources. Mr. Hawkins was a deacon and sang in the choir at Greenwich Baptist Church in Greenwich, CT. He taught Sunday School at Greenwich Baptist Church and at Signal Mountain.
