Carolyn Riggins Lynch Rush was born July 4th,1942, and passed away February 15th, 2026, surrounded by family. She was the daughter of Baugh and Dolan Lynch and was reared to be an honest, polite, kind and respectful person to everyone she met. She graduated with Honors from Trousdale County High School in 1958 and Tennessee Technical University in 1963.
In 1964 she married her high school sweetheart Tommy Rush, and they had two children, son Thomas Anderson Rush and daughter Anne Rush Jones. Her family was always her top priority. She will be remembered for her kind heart, passionate spirit, and the deep love she shared so freely with her family. Her warmth and compassion touched countless lives, and her presence brought comfort and joy to family and friends alike. A devoted wife for over 60 years, she built a life centered on faithfulness, partnership, and unwavering commitment. Her marriage was a beautiful example of enduring love and dedication. She was also a loving mother and grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her family.
Carolyn spent her entire 25-year career with the State of Tennessee Department of Human Services and was serving as the Area Manager of Sumner County when she retired in 2002.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 62 years Tommy Rush and children Thomas Rush and Anne Jones (Ron). She has five grandchildren. Evan Jones (Hollie) of Gallatin, TN; Jacqueline Taylor Rush of Jacksonville, FL; Thomas Franklin Rush of Hendersonville, TN, Isabella Rush Adlam (Josh) of Tampa, FL, and Austin Wheatley (Jordan). Two great grandchildren, Austin and Saylor.
She also had a special place in her heart for Coast. Coast was more than a pet, he was a faithful companion who brought her comfort, laughter, and constant joy.
Sellars Family Heritage in Gallatin, TN will oversee the arrangements. Visitation will be on Friday, February 20th, 2026, from 12-2 PM. The Memorial Service will begin at 2 PM on Friday, February 20th, 2026 held in Carolyn’s honor. She requests no flowers, but donations can be made to charity of the viewer’s choice.
