Arrest warrants charging attempted criminal homicide, especially aggravated robbery, aggravated robbery, and felon in possession of a gun have been issued against Rayshawn Javius, 24, for a violent January 7th crime spree that resulted in a woman on Gibson Drive being critically injured by gunfire.

Javius was arrested last night in Portland, Tennessee, after a traffic stop during which officers learned he was wanted on outstanding warrants in Nashville and Sumner County. Javius agreed to speak with MNPD detectives. During an interview, he admitted his involvement in shots fired at a woman outside her Gibson Drive home as she attempted to drive away from a man who had taken out a gun and physically struck her car window. She continues to recover from serious injuries. Javius also admitted his involvement in two robberies that occurred on the same night:

  • Dee’s Lounge,102 E Palestine Avenue, at 10:30 p.m. The victim was parking his car in the lot when a gunman approached him and demanded his wallet. They took his credit card and a single dollar.
  • Falcon View Apartments, 201 E Palestine Avenue, at 10:40 p.m. The victim was with a friend in the parking lot when two men approached them, both armed with handguns, and demanded their belongings. He refused to comply. One of the suspects used his gun to beat the victim’s head, knocking out teeth. They took his friend’s cell phone and fled on foot.

The investigation continues into the identification of the second suspect. An arrest warrant charging reckless endangerment was also issued against Javius for a December 28th shooting near 571 Charles E. Davis Boulevard that resulted in one man being shot in the leg. A second man, James D. Davis, 36, was also charged with reckless endangerment in this case. He had also been shot in the leg and was arrested after his discharge from the hospital the following day. Davis has remained jailed since his arrest.

Javius’ photograph is being withheld pending lineups. He will be returned to Nashville in the coming days.
