March 7, 2024 – The victim in the assault incident that took place at a Nashville bar last month, WSMV reports.
Austin Turner, 26, of Hendersonville, died Thursday after being at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for weeks in extremely critical condition.
The incident occurred on February 18 at Tin Roof on Demonbreun Street.
Metro Police say security guard Richard Cornelius, 36, of Antioch, allegedly denied Turner reentry into the bar when an altercation ensued. Detectives say Cornelius struck Turner, causing him to fall to the ground unconscious.
Cornelius was charged with aggravated assault on March 5. MNPD are now working with the District Attorney’s Office to determine if his charges will be upgraded following Turner’s death.
