Money Magazine has listed Hendersonville, TN in its 35th annual Best Places to Live list. The list highlights 50 places where job growth is rising, home prices are affordable, and the quality of life shines.

Hendersonville came in at #16. Reasons Hendersonville made the list includes:

  • Number of jobs in the area is projected to jump 14% by 2025
  • Well-performing high schools
  • Outdoor recreation opportunities
  • Historic sites
  • Unemployment rate, which was just 4.5% as of June (the national rate was 5.9% at the time)

To create Money’s Best Places to Live ranking for 2021-2022, Money considered cities and towns with populations ranging from 25,000 up to 500,000.

Money removed places where:

– the crime risk is more than 1.5x the national average
– the median income level is lower than its state’s median
– the population is declining
– there is effectively no ethnic diversity

This resulted in 1,300 locations. Money then considered 100 different metrics (for a total of over 300,000 unique data points) organized into nine categories to whittle the list down to 50.

  • Cost of Living
  • Economic opportunity
  • Diversity
  • Education
  • Fun (aka amenities)
  • Health & safety
  • Housing market
  • Income & personal finances
  • Quality of life
