A man caught transporting a large amount of cocaine through Millersville has been sentenced to more than a decade in prison.

William Davis was sentenced yesterday by Judge Jennifer Nichols to 12 years in prison after being convicted of trafficking over 1,200 grams of cocaine. Davis was arrested on Interstate 65 by Investigator Jordan Breedlove of the 18th Judicial District Drug Task Force during a routine interdiction stop, where officers found cocaine concealed in his vehicle. He later admitted to transporting the drugs from Alabama to Kentucky.

At sentencing, Assistant District Attorney Andrea Green argued for a lengthy prison term, pointing to Davis’s prior conviction for cocaine trafficking in Kentucky and text messages showing he was involved in multi-state drug distribution of cocaine and marijuana.

Officials credited the Drug Task Force’s vigilance with preventing the drugs from reaching their destination. The Sumner County District Attorney’s Office said it remains committed to keeping highways and communities safe from drug traffickers and criminal networks.
